Step 4 of 27
Moving on, let’s make a wire bail for your pendant.
Shape a teardrop loop with a new string of 18 gauge gold copper wire (fig. 4a, 4b).
Then, bend away the extra 18 gauge wires using your long needle nose pliers (fig. 4c, 4d, 4e, 4f, 4g).

Next, flatten out the teardrop wire with a hammer (fig. 4h, 4i, 4j).
Step 5 of 27
After that, straighten the excess 18 gauge wires with your nylon jaw pliers (fig. 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d, 5e, 5f).
Step 6 of 27
Coming up, let’s add a texture design on your wire bail using the wire weaving technique.
Start the weaving sequence with a new string of 26 gauge gold copper wire (fig. 6a, 6b):
- Make two small loops on the right 18 gauge wire.
- Next, make two big loops on both wires.
- Then, make two small loops on the left 18 gauge wire.
- Lastly, make two big loops on both wires.
Repeat the sequence until it reaches 1 inch in length (fig. 6c).
After that, curl the weave area with a stepped bail making pliers (fig. 6d, 6e).
Trim off the excess 26 gauge gold wires from the weave area (fig. 6f, 6g, 6h, 6i, 6j, 6k).
