WIRE-WRAPPING INTRICATE HEADY STONE PENDANT TUTORIAL
Step 1 of 29
Ready all items from the Materials and Tool list (fig. 1a).
Firstly, let’s create a wire frame to hold your oval labradorite stone (fig. 1b).
Prepare four long 18-gauge silver copper wire strings and five long 18-gauge gold copper wire strings (fig. 1c).
Tape your wire strings in alternating colors, with gold wire first then silver wire (fig. 1d).
Continue to tape along the length of your wire strings to make a wire strip (fig. 1e).
After that, wrap the sides of your stone from the bottom up with the gold-silver 18-gauge wire strip (fig. 1f, 1g, 1h, 1i).
Step 2 of 29
At the top of your stone, use a chain nose pliers to make a uniform bend on the wire strip (fig. 2a).
- Right wire strip (fig. 2b, 2c, 2d, 2e).
- Left wire strip (fig. 2f, 2g, 2h, 2i).
Step 3 of 29
Secondly, let’s decorate the wire frame with a zig-zag weave pattern.
You will need a long string of 22-gauge gold copper wire and a bent nose pliers.
Hold the remaining wire strip on your left hand and start from the top left corner of your wire frame (fig. 3a).
Make two coils with your 22-gauge wire on the bottom most 18-gauge gold wire (fig. 3b, 3c, 3d, 3e).
Then, tighten the shape of your coils using a bent nose pliers (fig. 3f, 3g).
After that, move a step upwards to next 18-gauge silver wire and repeat the coiling process (fig. 3h, 3i, 3j, 3k, 3l, 3m).
