WIRE-WRAPPING DOUBLE HAMMERED SPIRAL WITH COILS KEYCHAIN TUTORIAL
Step 1 of 7
Prepare all items from the Materials and Tool list (fig. 1a).
Let’s start by making the keychain design with a 12-gauge brown copper wire (fig. 1b).
On a piece of paper, draw the design template with a pencil (fig. 1c).
Them, trace the design template with your 12-gauge brown copper wire (fig. 1d).

Next, place the keychain piece on a base metal plate or jewelry anvil (fig. 2a).
Use a flat round face hammer to flatten the keychain piece to achieve the hammered effect (fig. 2b, 2c).
Step 3 of 7
Moving on, smoothen the sharp ends of your keychain piece with a triangle needle files (fig. 3a, 3b, 3c, 3d).
Your main keychain piece is complete.
Step 4 of 7
Now, let’s add a contrasting detail on your keychain piece.
Make a few starting coils on the top spiral of your keychain piece with a 18-gauge gold copper wire as your first anchor point (fig. 4a, 4b.
Then, make a loose coiling pattern along the middle of your keychain piece (fig. 4c.
Once you reached the left side of your bottom spiral, make a few tight coils as your second anchor point (fig. 4d.
After that, continue the loose coiling pattern on the bottom part of the lower spiral (fig. 4e.
Lastly, finish off with tight coiling pattern along the right side of your lower spiral and cut the excess wire off (fig. 4f, 4g).
Step 5 of 7
Back to the top spiral, use a 18-gauge gold copper wire and coil the inner part of the spiral as shown (fig. 5a, 5b).
Then, use a wire cutter and trim off the excess wire (fig. 5c, 5d).
Your keychain coil detailing is complete.
