WIRE-WRAPPING WHIMSY STAR AND MOON STATEMENT DROP EARRINGS TUTORIAL
Step 1 of 10
Ready all items from the Materials and Tool list (fig. 1a).
Draw the designed template on a piece of paper as shown (fig. 1b).
Then, trace the crescent moon template outline using a 20 gauge copper wire (fig. 1c, 1d).
Start by folding the wire in half and place it at the top edge of the crescent moon (fig. 1e).
After that, close the wire frame with wire loops and swirls and make another duplicate (fig. 1f, 1g, 1h).
Tips: Use masking tape as a support to keep your wire frame in shape.
Step 2 of 10
Next, take a new 20 gauge copper wire string and trace the loops and swirls of the whimsy design piece for the moon frame (fig. 2a, 2b, 2c).
Then, make a duplicate and place them into the moon frame (fig. 2d, 2e).
Step 3 of 10
Moving on, combine the wire moon frame and the whimsy design piece by coiling them with a 26 gauge copper wire (fig. 3a, 3b).
Firstly, anchor the 26 gauge copper wire at the top edge of the moon frame (fig. 3c).
Then, combine the starting point of the whimsy design piece with a big double coil onto the wire frame (fig. 3d).
Continue coiling along the outer moon wire frame and make big double coil for parts where the whimsy design piece meet (fig. 3e, 3f, 3g, 3h).
If you are short on 26 gauge copper wire, continue on with a second string until you reach the wire frame end point (fig. 3i, 3j).
Remember to leave out the end point of the whimsy design piece (fig. 3k, 3l).
