WIRE-WRAPPING ALLURING CLEAR CRYSTAL DROP FRENCH WIRE EARRINGS TUTORIAL
Step 1 of 9
Ready your work table with items from the Materials and Tool list (fig. 1a).
Firstly, frame your round crystal by wrapping a 22-gauge copper wire around it (fig. 1b, 1c, 1d, 1e, 1f, 1g).
Then, twist the remaining wire with a chain nose pliers to form your earring dangle (fig. 1h, 1i).
Step 2 of 9
Next, let’s prepare a wire base for frame weaving.
At the end of your twisted wire dangle, split the wire ends into a V-shape (fig. 2a).
Then, wrap two more 22-gauge copper wire frames around the first wire frame (fig. 2b, 2c).
Step 3 of 9
Moving on, take a 26-gauge copper wire to start the frame weaving process (fig. 3a).
Let’s use the figure-8 weaving technique with the following basic combo:
- One big coil on inner base wire and middle base wire (fig. 3b, 3c).
- One big cross loop coil on the outer base wire and middle base wire (fig. 3d, 3e).
- One small coil on the middle base wire (fig. 3f, 3g).
Repeat the weaving process until you have covered the entire wire frame (fig. 3h).
Step 4 of 9
Now, let’s weave the remaining 22-gauge wires to design the back of your crystal frame (fig. 4a).
On the right loose wires, make 7 small coils on the outer wire (fig. 4b).
Then, make two big coils over the outer and inner wires. Weaving for one inch in length (fig. 4c, 4d).
Repeat the weaving process on the left loose wires (fig. 4e).
Checkpoint: This is how your weaved wires should look (fig. 4f, 4g).
