WIRE-WRAPPING RETRO NAUTICAL BIRTHSTONE BRACELET TUTORIAL
Step 1 of 15
Ready your work table with items from the Materials and Tool list (fig. 1a).
Firstly, let’s create the birthstone pendant for your bracelet.
Make a ring using a 12-gauge copper wire and a ring mandrel (fig. 1b, 1c, 1d).
Then, flatten the ring with the flat side of your ball-peen hammer on a base metal plate (fig. 1e, 1f).
Smooth out your flat 12-gauge copper wire ring with a flat diamond file (fig. 1g, 1h).
Step 2 of 15
Make a second ring with a 12-gauge copper wire on the large diameter of your stepped bail-making pliers (fig. 2a, 2b).
Lastly, make a third ring with a 18-gauge silver copper wire of the same diameter (fig. 2c, 2d, 2e).
Checkpoint: The three rings for your birthstone pendant (fig. 2f).
Step 3 of 15
Next, let’s assemble the birthstone pendant.
Weave the flat ring and the 12-gauge copper wire ring together in the following sequence:
- Take a 24-gauge gold copper wire (fig. 3a).
- Place the 12-gauge copper wire ring inside the flat ring (fig. 3b).
- Make 6 small coils on the inner ring.
- Make 2 big coils on the outer and inner rings.
Adjust the spacing of the coils according to the design as shown (fig. 3c).
Then, place your birthstone in the middle of your pendant (fig. 3d, 3e).
Lastly, weave the final 18-gauge silver copper wire ring as a birthstone holder frame using a 26-gauge silver copper wire as shown (fig. 3f, 3g, 3h, 3i).
Polish the surface of your birthstone pendant with a finest steel wire wool (fig. 3j).
Your birthstone pendant is completed (fig. 3k).
