Step 5 of 14
Moving on, hammer the remaining loose 18-gauge copper wires flat on a base metal plate (fig. 5a, 5b, 5c, 5d).
Then, use the largest diameter on your stepped bail-making pliers to form two curved structures as shown:
- Right curved structure (fig. 5e, 5f).
- Left curved structure (fig. 5g).
Checkpoint: First pair for elongated curved structure is complete. (fig. 5h, 5i).

Step 6 of 14
Anchor the top curved structures with two coils each on the main frame (fig. 6a, 6b, 6c).
Then, design the pendant back stone holder by curving the remaining flat wires downwards as shown (fig. 6d).
Make two coils on the main frame to secure the design:
- Bottom left anchor point (fig. 6e).
- Bottom right anchor point (fig. 6f).
Trim off the excess flat wires using a wire cutter (fig. 6g, 6h, 6i).
Checkpoint: This is how your curved pendant back stone holder should look (fig. 6j).
Step 7 of 14
Fourthly, let’s add a second layer of copper accents onto your pendant.
Bend a new 18-gauge copper wire into a V-shape and flatten it entirely (fig. 7a, 7b, 7c, 7d).
Then, tape the tip of your flat V-shape wire at the bottom of your oval gemstone (fig. 7e).
Start the design by bending the flat wires outwards at a wider angle (fig. 7f).
After that, tuck the flat wires under the main frame (fig. 7g, 7h, 7i).
Straighten the flat wires horizontally (fig. 7j, 7k).
