WIRE-WRAPPING ABSTRACT FLAT SWIRLY COPPER DANGLE EARRINGS TUTORIAL

Step 1 of 4

Firstly, get your work station ready with items from the Materials and Tool list (fig. 1a).

Then, use a string of 18-gauge gold copper wire to create the dangle piece for your earring (fig. 1b).

Curl a jump ring at the front end of your 18-gauge wire with a stepped bail-making pliers (fig. 1c).

Repeat the jump ring process on your other earring.

Step 2 of 4

Next, draw the abstract swirly design template on a piece of paper with pencil or pen (fig. 2a).

Then, trace the designed template with your 18-gauge gold copper wire as shown (fig. 2b).

Trim the excess wire with a wire cutter (fig. 2c, 2d).

Repeat the design process on your other earring.

Step 3 of 4

Moving on, place the designed dangle earring piece on a base metal plate or jewelry anvil (fig. 3a).

Then, hammer it down with the flat side of your ball peen hammer to flatten its surface (fig. 3b).

Repeat the flattening process on your other earring.

Step 4 of 4

Finally, slip in your earring hook onto the jump ring of your 18-gauge flat dangle earring piece (fig. 4a, 4b).

Repeat the hook process on your other earring.

Pro tip: Use a round nose pliers to close the jump ring gap. It reduces bruising on your design surface.
