Wire-Weaving Patterns for Beginners

For my base wires, I’m using 18 gauge. For my weaving wire, I’m using 24 gauge.

2 Base Wires

Wire Weaving Pattern #1

Step 1 – Securely hold the wire with your fingers as shown. Leave a little space for your weaving wire.

Step 2 – Slide your 24 gauge wire between your base wires and hold the end of the weaving wire with your thumb as shown.

Step 3 – Make your first loop around the bottom wire and feed wire through base wires to prepare for the second loop.

Step 4 – Complete second loop around bottom base wire and bring weaving wire up. If needed use your finger nail to “tighten” up your loops by gently pushing them together.

Step 5 – Bring wire around both base wires to complete a loop.

Step 6 – Complete another loop around both base wires and then bring weaving wire up and through the base wires.

Step 7 – Complete a single loop around the bottom base wire.

Step 8 – Bring weaving wire up and through base wires to complete second loop.

Step 9 – Keep alternating 2 loops around bottom base wire and 2 loops around both base wires.

Repeat the steps above until your desired length, done!
