Today I’d like to share some of my favorite places where I source my stones. I will share a wide range of options to show that you can afford beautiful stones at any price point. From online retailers to boutique offerings—there will be something for everyone’s taste and budget.
Online Marketplaces
Online shopping offers you the opportunity to browse stones and ideas from the comfort of your home.

I love browsing the offerings on Etsy.com because it is like a candy store for wire-wrapping jewelers like me. Often, I find inspiration from independent artists. Other times I’ll come across bargains that are too good to resist. Overall, Etsy is the perfect starting place to find beautiful stones at affordable prices.
2. Amazon
When I started, I had a tight budget. Most of my initial tools and stones came from the retail giant. It is a wonderful platform if you’re starting. Please be careful and read the reviews and product descriptions before you buy anything. This will help ensure that you get what you pay for.
3. eBay
Sometimes you need a unique stone for your wrapping projects, but you cannot find anything local that appeals to you. What to do! Go to eBay. I enjoy browsing the offerings on eBay because I can buy gemstones at auction or at fixed prices.
Of all the online marketplaces, with this one you should be extra careful. Remember, when a deal is too good to be true, it usually is! Do your research and make sure you understand the terms and conditions of the sale.
4. Alibaba.com
Don’t you tire of running up and down to the store? Well, I did, so I started buying stones in bulk. I source stones from around the globe, buy them at wholesale prices, and have them delivered. Remember, minimum order quantities may apply, so be sure to check before you place your order.
5. Temu
I am amazed at the excellent pricing on Temu’s website. Thus far, I’ve not had any problems. My advice here is to do your homework, check the seller reviews, and read the terms and conditions on the website before diving in.
6. AliExpress
Like Alibaba, AliExpress.com offers you overseas gemstone sellers with a wide variety of stones to choose from. Keep in mind that you might need to pay for customs and/or import duties. Shipping times also vary, so check before you order.
7. Walmart
Through the years I’ve used Walmart for on- and offline shopping. Although Walmart.com doesn’t specialize in gemstones, they offer a selection of tools and some stones to get you going. Always check the online store for availability before placing your order.
Other Online Retailers
I adore this platform because it offers a wide range of stones at various price points. You can browse and bid on polished and rough stones at their website. Get ready to go to stone heaven!
Physical Stores
I love getting out of the house and spending some time at my local crystal and stone shop!
9. Crystal Shops (Local or Online)
In my city, there are a few brick-and-mortar shops I frequent for all my wire-wrapping needs. Over the years I’ve built relationships with the staff who are always helpful with expert knowledge. Here you can pick out the stones best suited to your project or just browse and plan your next project.
10. Gemstone Dealers at Flea Markets or Craft Fairs
Can you spell heaven? I cannot begin to explain how much I love visiting craft fairs and flea markets! It is a paradise where you can unearth unique stones while supporting local vendors and artists. Sometimes you can even score amazing deals but check the quality before you buy.
Social Media Marketplaces:
In today’s fast-paced world, I sometimes use Facebook Marketplace to find gemstone sellers near me. Be careful when you buy online and use common sense. If it seems too good to be true, it usually is… and if something seems ‘off’’ rather don’t commit to the purchase.
12. Instagram Shop
Back in the day I thought Instagram was a digital photo album… however, I have found amazing wire-wrapping jewelers who also have a dedicated shop where I view their stones and admire their artwork. You can order or inquire about their stoned via a direct message.
One of my favorites is DesertSageCrystals. Be sure to show them some love!
Online Gemstone Groups
Humans need interaction. Connect with like-minded wire-wrapping enthusiasts and exchange ideas, and designs, or quickly ask for advice.
Never underestimate the power of a Facebook group when it comes to crafts! Here are a few of my favorites to help you get started:
