Hook and eye clasps are commonly used for bracelets and they are easy to make. Instead of the basic wire only clasp, Katalina Jewelry added beads onto hers for more personal touch. You can replace the beads to your birthstones or favorite gemstone to match the design of your bracelet and make it yours.
Besides that, you can repurpose your old project just like how Lisa Yang Jewelry did. Instead of discarding her extra wire bows from a previous project, she reused her wire bow as an eye and made a new hook to complete her clasp as below. Lisa then used jump rings as a connector.
2. S-hook Clasp
If you prefer a one piece clasp on your bracelet, then S-hook is the one for you. In the Wah Artisan video tutorial below, she provided two ways to create a S-hook clasp, which are one without loop and the other with loop.
Similarly, Regalia by Reyney made a basic looped S-hook clasp for his chain link wire bracelet with matching copper wires.
3. Toggle Clasp
This minimalist twisted toggle clasp by Jocelyn from Fantasia Elegance on YouTube draws the attention to the beautiful twisted wire at the base of the circle and T-bar part. And she made a small loop at the end as the connector to the bracelet. And I find that the rounded end on the T-bar is a clever design to avoid surface scratching.
There is an even simpler toggle bar design that only involves three loops. Abby Hook made the first loop as the connector and then curl the T-bar wire ends as loops for a rounded finish.
Suzy Wong Studio made a beautiful T-bar that is lined with beads to match the overall design of her bead bracelet. She placed two bead on each side of the T-bar and wrapped the wire to maintain the spacing. The beads definitely elevated the T-bar into looking premium.
5. Hook and Eye Clasp
This is an alternative hook and eye clasp for thicker bracelet design. The video tutorial by Katie Parker Jewellery shows the hook is open ended and it faces the horizontal direction. Plus, this clasp has two connectors to accommodate the thick bracelet.
Or, you can always show off your wire wrapping technique by adding details onto the connector rings as shared by Ophelia Marvolo. Instead of the simple double ring, you can add looping patterns onto your clasps for an intricate look.
6. Swan Clasp and Figure 8 Link
Similar to the S-hook clasp, you can make a figure 8 link as a infinity charm on your bracelet. If you think the figure 8 link design is too simple, you can reshape it into a swan clasp by adjusting the head and neck wire and add a spiral for its body. You can follow the video tutorial by Zurick Designs Jewelry and Art.
7. Alternative Lobster Claw Clasp
If you are a practical girly who prefer safety, then this Secure Carabiner Style Hooks by Heather Boyd Wire are sure to appeal you. She modifies the traditional shepherd’s hook with an extra looped pin to prevent accidental unhooks while you go about an active day with your bracelet.
