10 Types Of Wire Wrapped Bail For Pendant Necklace

Types Of Wire Wrapped Bail For Pendant Necklace

Hi there my dear reader! So, is it pendant bail or bale? Both spellings are correct and it is up to your preference. For me, I often use the word ‘bail’ in my articles.

A pendant bail is a connector part that hangs your pendant onto your necklace.

It can be a separate piece, or have it merged with your overall pendant design.

In wire wrapping, you can make your own custom and personalized bail to express your creativity and skills.

I have selected 10 Types Of Wire Wrapped Bail For Pendant Necklace from the many amazing wire wrappers who shared their work online.

Stay inspired and happy wrapping! Thank you for reading.

10 Types Of Wire Wrapped Bail For Pendant Necklace

1. Woven Bail

Make a one piece pendant frame with woven bail as share by bibisora.

Firstly, she framed her round gemstone from the bottom up using a bold wire.

At the top, she bent the remaining wire into a V-shape bail frame and curled the wire ends.

Then, she weaved the bail frame into an elongated diamond shape using a fine wire.

Lastly, she curled the bail frame to the front with a pen to finish the bail design.

2. Simple Loop Bail

If you have a side drilled gemstone that you want to wear as a necklace, then you start with this beginner friendly simple loop bail by TheBohoBeachBum.

With a single wire of your choice, slide on the gemstone to the midpoint and pull the wire upwards.

Then, tighten the wrap on the top of your gemstone and straighten the wire using a round nose pliers.

Choose the size of your pendant bail along the tapered jaw of your pliers and wrap a loop.

Lastly, wrap the remaining wire under your bail to fix its shape and trim off the excess with a wire cutter.

The size of your wire can make a huge difference in your bail design. You can use a bolder wire to make a simple loop bail just like how Natalie Ofkants did with hers.

3. Jump Ring Bail

With just a stepped bail-making pliers and a cutter, you can easily make this jump ring bail.

Creationsthatrock demonstrates how you can make interchangeable jewelry from a pendant necklace to earrings by swapping between the jump ring bail and fish hooks.

4. Coiled Bail

Instead of a plain naked loop bail, you can add fine wire coiling for texture.

I have used a coiled bail for my pendant below so that you can see there is a clear distinction between the pendant frame and bail design.

5. Heady Bail

If you like to show off your wire wrapping skills and technique, then you should craft a heady bail on your next project.

A heady bail design may look sophisticated at a first glance, but once you learn to break it down into simpler parts then you can finish it.

BrittTheWrapper combined wire coiling, wire weaving and wire framing to create this alluring heady bail that features a Tanzanite gemstone.

6. Eye Bail

If you know to make an eye pin, then you can use it as a bail.

Berry Crafty started with an eye pin as her bail, then continues with a round bead and create this minimalist wrap wrap pendant piece.

7. Split Loop Bail

Split loop bail is also known as a S-hook bail. The separated loops can prevent your pendant and necklace from scratching each other.

Regalia by Reyney used a single wire to create this functional bail.

Firstly, he fold the wire in half. With a stepped bail-making pliers, he used a larger barrel diameter for the necklace and a smaller barrel diameter for the pendant.

8. Barrel Bail

Boo’s Jewellery shared this wonderful barrel bail design that I rarely come across and piqued my interest.

Although the design is simple, but the presentation is shiny and elegant.

To recreate this bail, I think a pen is enough so that you have have consistent coils.

9. Y-shape Bail

A Y-shape bail is a frame that is most expressive. You can weave, coil, add gemstone in between or just leave it be.

So far we have seen woven bail and heady bail, now you see how Mysticlovecrystal uses a plain bail that is equally charming.

10. Folding Donut Bail

Wirewrapping Posts on YouTube shared how you can make a bail for your donut gemstone pendant.

With the combination of wire weaving, wire twisting and manipulation, you can recreate this bail with your own style.
