9 Pendant Knot Types For Cord Necklaces
Knot Queen shared three simple and fast cute necklace knots on her YouTube video tutorial as follow:
1. Barrel Knot
To make the barrel knot, hold your pendant on your left hand and line the cords along your pointer finger. Then wrap the bottom cord around your pointer fingers for three loops to form the barrel shape. Lastly, pull the remaining bottom cord through the barrel into a knot.
2. Cross Knot
To make the cross knot, hold your pendant on left hand and twist your cord for half a turn. Next, make a large loop with the bottom cord and enlarge the pendant loop. Then, use the top cord to string through the pendant loop first followed by the bottom cord loop. Lastly, pull them into a knot that gives a cross shape.
3. Double Loop Knot
The start of this knot is different from the previous ones. You must first fold the cord in half before slipping it through the pendant. Then, press the folded cord down to form a double loop. Lastly, slip the left loose cord through the left loop and repeat on the opposite side. Pull the knot tight to finish.

4. Cat’s Paw
Fold the cord in half and slip it through a ring or a pendant bail. Widen the loop cord to wrap the ring and pull the cords tight to form a cow hitch knot. After that, loosen the loop and turn the ring twice to twist the cord. Lastly, tighten the knot to reveal stripes that looks like a Cat’s Paw.
5. Bull Hitch
Similarly, start with a cow hitch knot on the ring. Then, loosen the loop and and twist it to form a figure-8 loop. Lastly, pull the loose cords through the outer half of the figure-8 loop and tighten to finish.
6. Napoleon’s Claw
Start with a loose cow hitch knot and have the loop facing you. Then, make a pair of bunny ears by pulling the end cords through the loop. Next, tighten down the cow hitch part to secure the ring while reducing the size of the bunny ears. Make a crisscross by pulling the right cord through the left bunny ear loop, and the left cord through the right bunny ear loop. Carefully tighten your bunny ears to finish the knot.
7. Alpine Butterfly Loop
If you are a climber, than you are familiar with this knot. On your left palm, pull the cord from the side of your thumb across to your pinky finger, and wrap it around the fingers. Then, place your pendant at the center of your fingers and pull the cord through to wrap your finger. Pull the cord across your palm to form an X-shape. Next, bring the pendant down to the center of the X-shape and flip it inwards. Lastly, tighten the cords to finish the knot.
8. Dropper Loop
Thread the cord through your pendant and make a big loop. Next, make one to four twists on the overlapping loop cords and pull the pendant through the center of the twists. Lastly, pull the ends of the cord to tighten the knot.
9. Mystery Knot
On your left hand, pull a cord over your palm and to the back of your pointer finger then make a overhand knot. Place your pendant under the pointer finger and thread the cord through. Tuck the cord end under the first knot and repeat a second overhand knot. I believe you can name this Mystery Knot as the double overhand knot.
