WIRE COILING TOOLS COMPARISON: COILING GIZMO VS JUMP RING MAKER

1. Coiling End Product

Coiling Gizmo is a lightweight wire coiling tool. It produces neat narrow coils (fig. 1a).

Meanwhile, Jump Ring Maker is a heavy duty wire coiling tool that makes loose wide coils (fig. 1b).

In comparison, the Jump Ring Maker coils are inconsistent with visible gaps (fig. 1c).

2. Tool Handling

To setup the Jump Ring Maker, you will need a separate table top clamp to hold your tool (fig. 2a).

However, the Coiling Gizmo can directly fix on your table with its built-in G-clamp (fig. 2b).

3. Wire Coiling Process

The Jump Ring Maker is suitable for intermediate and advanced level wire wrapper.

Because without proper technique, your coils might be loose and fill with gaps (fig. 3a).

To overcome this, you can tighten your coils by pushing them inwards using a flat nose pliers as shown (fig. 3b, 3c, 3d).

On the other hand, Coiling Gizmo is easy to use for beginners.

The table metal base acts as a support for the crank rod and your copper wire (fig. 3e).

For neat tight coils, press your wire onto the metal bar as you wind your wire (fig. 3f, 3g).

4. Supported Coil Length And Diameter

Coiling Gizmo is a good choice for you if you are working with a coil diameter that is lesser than 5mm.

Plus, the crank rods are between 5 inches to 8 inches long (fig. 4a).

Jump Ring Maker has a wider coil diameter that range up to 12mm, but with shorter rods (fig. 4b).

Moreover, the tool comes with extra kit such as jump ring cutter (fig. 4c).
