How to Use a Celtic Penannular Brooch

DID YOU KNOW? The Celtic penannular brooch dates back to the Iron age!

The brooch features a pin which is fastened on one end to the ring which allows it to slide freely around the brooch.

Penannular means “incomplete ring” which allows a small space for the pin to move through.

***Step-by-step pics below video***

Step 1 – Slide pin so it’s hanging from the top and pin head is sticking down between the gap at the bottom of the circle frame.

Step 2 – Flip frame upward and back.

Step 3 – Feed needle through garment.

Step 4 – Flip frame upward and down so the needle is positioned as shown below.

Step 5 – Turn the needle counter-clockwise so needle is sliding over top of frame.
